Area Flat Five LLC
I formed this company when I moved to Connecticut in order to work on non-software projects. I was inspired by makerspaces in New York City like Fat Cat Fab Lab, and later by my local Danbury Hackerspace, to get into 3D printing and hands-on projects involving electronics, woodworking, and machining. I also spent my childhood with access to a basement workshop full of my dad’s telecommunications equipment, my mom’s wood shop, and hand tools going back several generations, so this stuff had been in my DNA all along. The main output of this project so far has been Stachelvarius Mouthpieces, which was how I taught myself 3D design and used 3D printing to prototype and ultimately produce blanks for investment casting saxophone mouthpieces.
