Overview

I have been programming since the age of 10 when my father brought home a shiny new TRS-80 Color Computer. Throughout high school, our computer collection continued to pile in the basement and included original IBM PC XT and AT computers. While my friends grew up on Commodores and Amigas, I learned to build my own x86 PC computers and hacked my way through DOS and early Windows operating systems. I developed several databases for myself tracking baseball cards and such.

College for me spanned the final years before the explosion of mainstream personal computing and the Internet. As a freshman, I toted a typewriter to my dorm for papers. I had an e-mail address at a time when nobody had them except computer science majors and spies. I took the coursework necessary for a CS minor because it made a lot of sense at a time when my music major peers were scrambling for a "backup" plan. I already knew what I needed to know, so it was a no brainer.

Well, that "backup" plan ended up supporting me as a musician in New York City for the 12 years that I've lived here. These days, it's not really a backup, it's just part of who I am. I've been running my own company Danenberg Consulting LLC since 2002, and my business is at a point where my priority is serving my clients. I still find the time to keep my saxophone alive, and in many ways the skills are complimentary. Music and programming both require analytical thought and creativity, lots of healthy activity for both sides of the brain. So it's an ideal career for me, and in turn I'm a valuable resource for my clients!
